Obituary of Norman Allen HARRIMAN

HARRIMAN, Norman Allen Norman Allen Harriman of Strathmore, Alberta passed away peacefully at Mayfair Care Centre, Calgary, on May 25, 2013. Born on the family farm northwest of Nightingale, Alberta on November 13, 1921, he was the last surviving member of the Frank Harriman family. Norman worked for the county of Wheatland in his younger days. On June 7, 1952 he married Edna and together they farmed the family farm until their retirement in 1993. Norman was a very family and community minded person being a 4-H leader, on the hall board, Meals on Wheels, and hockey coach, to name a few. Norman is survived by three of his children Jean, Carol (Rod), and Earl (Shelley); eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years Edna in 2002, and daughter Verna in 1999. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Nightingale Community Hall at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Norman’s memory may be made directly to the Wheatland Lodge (76 2nd Street, Strathmore, AB, T1P 1J8) or to the Canadian Cancer Society (200, 325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, AB, T2E 2P5).
