Obituary of Sandra Lynn FLAMOND

FLAMOND, Sandra Lynn (Sandi) It is with great sadness that we announce that, after a brief illness, Sandi Flamond, of Strathmore, Alberta, passed away peacefully at the age of 45 years on Saturday, March 16, 2013 with her family by her side. She leaves to mourn her loving mother Viola of Strathmore; brother Fraser of Strathmore; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Sandi was born in Calgary and moved to Strathmore at the age of six. She completed high school in Strathmore and attended the University of Calgary. In her twenties, she moved to Victoria, British Columbia where she worked for the BC Ferries for a number of years. Sandi was a gifted artist who was proud of her Metis heritage. She was an animal lover and excelled in sports, especially basketball, running, skiing and swimming. In her later years she loved watching her favourite programs on TV. After the death of her father Leroy Flamond in June 2007, Sandi returned to her home in Strathmore to help take care of her mom who has MS, and was living with her mom while working at the family business, Leroy’s Motel, until the time of her death. The family wishes to thank all the doctors and nurses of the ICU at the Peter Lougheed Hospital for their compassionate, personal care in Sandi’s final days. A memorial luncheon will be held on Friday, March 22, 2013 at Lord of All Lutheran Church, Strathmore, at 2:00 p.m. If desired, donations in Sandi’s memory may be made to any animal shelter.
