Obituary of Jack Bennett NIELSON

NIELSON, Jack Bennett 1930 – 2012 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather and friend. Jack was born in Ravenscraig, Saskatchewan on July 21, 1930. He farmed in the Eastend district for many years before moving to Alberta to work at various jobs throughout his career. He certainly was a jack of all trades. His most recent jobs were at the Strathmore Golf Course and he was still doing the grounds at the Strathmore Legion. He recently moved into the Wheatland Lodge and loved it there. He was a great hunter, trapper and fisherman. He also loved berry picking and making jams, jellies and pickles – some of which he won ribbons for at local fairs. He was known to some as Trapper Jack. I know he had many friends in Strathmore and he sincerely loved being around you all. He was predeceased by his mother, father, stepfather, and son Robert. He is survived by his daughter Debbie (Don) and 2 grandsons, Shaun Croisetiere (Robyn) and great-granddaughters Annabelle and Haven, Curtis Croisetiere and Chris Croisetiere – step grandson (Jennifer) and Carson and Courtney. Also his son Brian (Cindy) and grandson Ryan Nielson (Lonnie) great-grandson Gage and great-granddaughter River. A celebration of Jack’s live will be held on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at the Strathmore Legion on at 1:00 p.m. We would like to extend a special thank you to Bob and Yvonne Hartell and Dixie Hartell for all they did for Dad in his last months. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to either the Strathmore Royal Canadian Legion Branch #10 (Box 2141, Strathmore, T1P 1K1) or Strathmore Ducks Unlimited (c/o Getz and Associates, Box 2370, Strathmore, T1P 1K3).
