Obituary of Barbara Lynne JOHANSON

JOHANSON, Barbara Lynne August 7, 1948 – February 26, 2012 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear friend Barb on February 26, 2012. Barb was raised on the family farm at Carseland, Alberta where she enjoyed everything about farm life, especially riding her horses. After graduating, Barb moved to Calgary where she attended SAIT and later worked at the General Hospital where she made many lifelong friends. In Barb’s younger days, she enjoyed travelling to Europe and Australia with her cousin and friends. Barb was always a country girl at heart and when her MS became more of a challenge, she returned to the country to live at her Uncle Steve’s place, where she lived happily until her passing. She entertained her many friends, neighbours, and cousins at her place in the country and delighted in sharing in their lives. She was quick to laugh and saw humour in many places. Although Barb was often in pain, she always greeted you with a smile and a twinkle in her eye. Barb was predeceased by her mother Stella, and father Jack. She is survived by her brother Steve and his wife Cheryl and their children Dan, Devin, Andrew and Becka; her treasured friend Dorothy Carnine; as well as her many cousins who were very dear to her and a great support. A heartfelt thank you is extended to Leanne Owel and all the home care staff for the wonderful care they provided for Barb throughout the years. A celebration of Barb’s life will be held on Friday, March 2, 2012 at Strathmore United Church at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to Strathmore District Health Foundation “For Home Care” (200 Brent Blvd., Strathmore, AB, T1P 1J9).
