Obituary of George William SANDMAIER

SANDMAIER, George William January 14, 1947 – February 10, 2012 It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of George William Sandmaier of Strathmore, Alberta. George passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, February 10 at the age of 65 years. Although his life here with us was shorter than we hoped and planned, we will be forever thankful for the years we had with the best husband, father, and grandpa we could have asked for. He was a generous, caring, hardworking man who will be missed by all who knew him. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, Joan, his loving wife of 43 years; children, Kevin (Lynn), Cheryl (Rod), Bryan (Dallas), Allison (Garren), Sasha, and Nikki; grandchildren, Jessica, Joshua, Tyler, Jared, Curtis, Jordyn, Blake, Brandon, Alexa, and Olivia; siblings, Marvis (Garry), Joan, Nadine (Paul), Armella (Bob), Rita, Phyllis (Garry), Dennis (Melva), Theresa (Cal), and Kathy (John); father-in-law Leroy; inlaws, Carol (Pat), Doug, Linda (Darrel), Yvonne (Ulrik), Russell (Peggy), Donna (Pat), Bobby (Kathy), Billy (Wanda), and Theresa (Jeff); numerous nieces, nephews, friends and co-workers. George was predeceased by his parents George and Josephine, mother-in-law Edna, and sister Marilyn. We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the doctors and nurses at the Strathmore Hospital for the loving care, compassion, and kindness shown to George, and our family during this difficult time. Also, thank you to the staff at the Drumheller Cancer Clinic and Dr. Tang at the Tom Baker Cancer Center for their care over the past year. In life we loved you dearly, In death we love you still.
