Obituary of Lucie Athalie Larence

LARENCE, Lucie (nee. Chartrand) January 29, 1924 – Portage La Prairie February 27, 2018 – Strathmore, Alberta It is with great sadness that the family of Lucie Larence announces her passing at the age of 94. Lucie is survived by her daughter Doreen (Alex), her sons Brian (Jodene), Barry (Rhonda), Dean (Teresa), daughter-in-law Shirley, sister Annette, 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her beloved husband James (Jim), her son Ken, 4 brothers and 9 sisters. Lucie grew up in St. Ambrose, Manitoba. She met Jim Larence in Winnipeg, Manitoba. They lived and raised their 5 children in Fisher Branch, Manitoba. After Jim’s passing in 1971, Lucie relocated to Winnipeg and worked at the Grace Hospital until her retirement in 1989. She moved to Strathmore, Alberta in 1999 at the age of 75. Lucie will be remembered for her kind, welcoming, and cheerful disposition. Her loving support, strength and pride of family made her the much-loved matriarch. Lucie will be remembered for her positive outlook, sense of humor and her eternal smile. Lucie brought joy and happiness to many lives. A funeral service for Lucie will be held on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Lord of All Lutheran Church in Strathmore, Alberta at 11:00 a.m. Lunch will follow.
