Obituary of Arthur Bruce THOMPSON

THOMPSON, Arthur Bruce Embraced with love, Bruce passed away peacefully and with dignity on November 17, 2011 at the age of 78, after a courageous battle with cancer. Bruce was predeceased by his loving wife Marge (Knight) after 44 years of marriage, his parents Samuel & Maud Thompson of Grandview, MB, sisters Greta (Alvin), Beatrice (Clark), and Audrey (Dwain), and brother Doug (Hazel). He will be dearly missed by daughter Lynn and husband Dale Johnson, grand-daughters Lacey and Hailey, his sister Jean (Arnold), special friends Billie and Oscar, as well as a large contingent of brothers and sisters in-law, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Bruce was born in Grandview, MB on November 24, 1932. He enjoyed a successful career with AGT (Telus) and retired in 1987. He kept himself very busy driving handi bus, school bus, and taxi. Bruce was a dedicated Legion Member and Community Volunteer. He also held several Boards positions and was always there to lend a helping hand. His greatest joy was visiting with family and friends, and driving. The family is very grateful for the respect and compassionate care that Bruce received at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre. Also for the care given from the Strathmore Home Care team and others. Special thanks to Dr. Imam and to Camelia Lee and Dr. Desiree Hao for their continuous exceptional care. Bruce had a zest for life and touched the hearts of many. Friends and family shall begin a Celebration Of Life for Bruce on Thursday, November 24, 2011, at 4:00 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall, Strathmore Branch #10.
