Obituary of Alvin George SCHAEFER

SCHAEFER, Alvin George Mr. Alvin Schaefer passed away peacefully at the Strathmore Hospital on Sunday, August 7, 2011 at the age of 70 after a courageous battle with cancer. Alvin was born in Macklin, Saskatchewan on April 25, 1941 and semi-retired in Strathmore in 2005. Alvin managed Macleods and True Value Hardware stores during his long retail career and during his semi-retirement worked for Totem in Northeast Calgary and then in Strathmore. He was one of nine children born to the late Peter and Helen Schaefer and was the beloved husband of Gloria Schaefer for over 46 years. Alvin will be forever remembered by his loving brothers and sisters Adeline Mann, Loretta Smith, Mary Hanz, Richard Schaefer, Norbert Schaefer and Nieta Saenz; beloved children Doug (Krista) Schaefer and Sheila (Arthur) Tucker; treasured grandchildren Alex and Mitchell Schaefer and Jack and James Tucker. He loved listening to old time music, being with his family, watching baseball, laughing and fishing. Alvin touched so many lives with his kindness, generosity and strength. He will truly be missed.
