Obituary of David KIRKEBY

KIRKEBY, David October 31, 1946 – Calgary, Alberta April 24, 2017 – Calgary, Alberta It is with broken hearts and a profound sense of loss that we say farewell to Dave. Born in Calgary, AB, he spent his childhood in and around Hanna, Hussar and Keoma. David then moved to Calgary where he met his wife Karen (the girl next door) in 1970. David and Karen made their way to Strathmore in 1978 shortly after the arrival of their first child. Throughout the years Dave worked doing various jobs when in 1981 he started his company Kirkeby Trucking which he medially retired from in 2003. Dave was predeceased by his mother Phyllis and brother Garry. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Karen; his cherished children Mark and Kristie (Kuhn), and son-in- law Shane (Kuhn). Dave was always the proud grandpa to Hayden Carter. Also surviving are one sister Irene and three brothers Eldon, John and Kevin Anderson. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017 at Strathmore Alliance Church (325 – 1 Ave, Strathmore) at 2:00 p.m. with a reception to follow.
