Obituary of Lenore Louise MACKAN

MACKAN, Lenore Louise (Lou, Lu) August 13, 1949 – Wingham, Ontario April 22, 2017 – Calgary, Alberta Lenore “Lu”, dear and cherished wife of Robert, passed away peacefully following a brief battle with esophageal cancer. Lenore is survived by her husband of 43 years, Dr. Robert “Bob” Mackan; her children Jay (Chantelle) Besterd, Bryce (Kristina) Mackan, Marleigh (Everett) Goulet, and Lindsay (Kieran) Mackan; her mother Gloria (Lloyd) Mundy; and her brother Jim (Marilyn) Laing. She is also survived by her grandchildren Braeden J, Braeden, Emma, Brooklyn, Olivia and Gage; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Lou’s husband and her family were always her first love and the priority in her life. Along with raising her wonderful family, she was actively involved in community activities both in Willowridge and Canyon Meadows in Calgary. She was employed over the years, both in Calgary and Strathmore, in reception, bookkeeping, real estate, and both pharmacy and grocery retail. Lou made a long list of precious friends and acquaintances. Her indomitable spirit, balanced with her strength and kindness, inspired us all. Her beautiful smile and sense of humour will be greatly missed. Lou will be placed to rest at Strathmore Cemetery on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
