Obituary of Katherine Marriott KLEMMENSEN

KLEMMENSEN, Katherine Marriott (nee BERNHARDT) Kathie passed away peacefully after a brief illness, and can now finally join the man she’s missed so much – her beloved husband Raymond. Kathie was born in Coronation, Alberta. She attended Nursing School at the Calgary General Hospital, where she met many life-long friends. Kathie graduated in 1953 and worked as a nurse in Calgary, Coronation, Yellowknife NT & Montreal PQ. Kathie married Raymond in 1965 and was the consummate farm wife/mother as she supported her husband and raised two boys. She taught Sunday School at Nazareth Lutheran Church (Standard) and enriched many Standard-area events with her lavishly decorated cakes. Following Ray’s death in 1992, she remained in the Standard area. Later, she moved to the Wheatland Lodge in Strathmore, where she enjoyed many cups of coffee with her new friends. Recently, Kathie moved to Newport Harbour Care Centre in Calgary. She suffered severe strokes on April 6th and she passed away at Newport April 16. Kathie leaves to mourn her sons Alex and Richie (Lisa) and granddaughters Hailey, Alexis and Jordan; her sisters Vikki and Chris and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was pre-deceased by her parents, her father-in-law Sofus, her husband Ray and her brother Dick. In keeping with Kathie’s wishes, no funeral service will be held. Instead, the family invites you to come share a cup of coffee and some memories on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at the Strathmore Civic Centre (120 Brent Blvd.) from 1-3 p.m.– dress is farm-casual.
