Obituary of Doris Ellen BANCROFT

BANCROFT, Doris Ellen April 21, 1930-April 5, 2017 It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and one of the kindest ladies we will ever know. Mom left our world on April 5, 2017 and we just know her and dad have already resumed their daily cribbage games. She spent most of her life in various towns in central Alberta. She wore many hats in her life, she worked in the Robinsons and Marshall Wells stores in Rockyford before becoming a Postmistress. She also worked for the school division at the Rosebud Hutterite Colony and a secretary in both Rockyford and Westmount. After moving to Red Deer she worked at a Bed and Bath. She is survived by her daughter, Patsy (Larry) Kathol of Rockyford; sons David of Strathmore, Kenneth of Spruce Grove, and Keith (Valerie) of Stony Plain; grandchildren Paul (Tara) Kathol, Jacqueline (Sean) Kenney, Nathan (Darci) Kathol, Jill Kathol, Morgan (Jennessa) Bancroft, and Adam Bancroft; and 16 great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister Lorraine (Leonard) Kathol; one brother Leslie (Marie) Bell; one sister in law Betty Bell; one brother in law Art (Doreen) Bancroft; half brother and sister in laws Gwen (Percy) Sutton, Garth (Marion) Bancroft, Betty Carr and Steve (Sharon) Wolchina; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 48 years, Ivan, on July 7, 1999; infant son Gerald in 1951; father Simon Bell in 1955; and mother Ivy Bell/Hadley, two sisters Hilda McMurray and Shirley Merkel and one brother Harold Bell. Our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Strathmore Hospital for their gentle, compassionate care. They were awesome! In lieu of flowers, donations in Doris’ memory may be made directly to the Wheatland and Area Hospice Society (PO Box 2154, Strathmore, AB, T1P 1K2).
