Obituary of Jacqueline Ellen Harwood

HARWOOD, Jacqueline Ellen

Born December 3, 1939, Jackie passed away peacefully with her family by her side on September 19, 2018. Jackie grew up on their family farm in Langdon, AB. with her brothers and sisters. She proudly served with the Canadian Military becoming a corporal in the Army. Jackie was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion and enjoyed many events there, including darts. She loved to curl and chaperoned for many tours with her Children’s Drum Corps, both the Red and White Aires and Calgary Cavaliers. She will be remembered for her mischievous ways, discussions and opinions, her sense of humor, her open-door policy for all of her family and friends, her sparkling blue eyes, red lipstick, and love of animals.

Jackie is survived by her husband, Ken Melville; daughters Kathy Peron, Cindy (John) Vandebeek, and Patty (Jim) Ketchell; son Todd (Kelly) Hulse; sisters Joan Roberts and Norma Kernaghan; grandchildren Janice (Evan), Christon (Ruth), Christopher (Dana), Holly (Luke), Anali, Jessica, Matthew, Ryan, Kurt, Justin, and Braydon; and great-grandchildren Sage, Skylar, Keelan, Aaralynn, Melody, and Logan. She was predeceased by her parents, Nettie and David Kernaghan; brothers Melvin, Gerry, and Bobby; sisters Donna, Audrey, Sharon, and Linda; and granddaughter Pamela Peron. Jackie had a great multitude of nieces and nephews whom she adored. She was truly loved by many and will be greatly missed by all.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 24, 2018 at Strathmore Royal Canadian Legion Hall #10 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to The Royal Canadian Legion – Poppy Fund (Dominion Command, 86 Aird Place, Ottawa, ON, K2L 0A1).
