Obituary of Helen Mary Smolanski

Helen passed away at Sagewood in Strathmore on April 5, 2018. She was predeceased by her husband, John Smolanski in 2006; parents Stanley & Rose Brzyski; sister Stella Kreitzer; son-in-law Alvin Ward; and two grandchildren. Helen is survived by her children, Joe Smolanski (Marnie), John Smolanski (Bernie), Rosanne Bugbee (Bill), Maryann Thompson (Barry), Rick Smolanski (Randy Service), and Connie Sillito (Kevin); grandchildren Jennifer Burrell (Steven) and their children Islay and Henry, Steven Smolanski (Lori) and their children Emily and Finley, Sonya Schmidt (Tyler) and their children Josiah, Julian, and Jeorgia, Byron Smolanski (Megan) and their first child on-the-way, Owen Bugbee (Erin) and their children Anna and Aeson, Duane Bugbee and his child Hailey, Darren Bugbee (Stephanie) and their children Nathaniel, Honorah, and Gabriel, Chad Ward (Amber) and their children Corbin and Arianna, Matthew Ward and his children Casin and Kobie, Lenard (Lesley) and their children Shayla, Maggie, and Jaxson, Daniel Sillito (Meagan) and their children Madison, Isabelle, and Claire, and Sarah Schuller (Neil) and their children Liam, Coby, and Rhet. A special Thank You to the staff at Sagewood, especially Sandra, Gail, and Dr. Gooden; you are angels on earth. The family would also like to give a big Thank You to Pastor Dawn Nelson for all her help and support. A private family service was held at Helen’s request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society (#200, 325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, T2E 2P5).
