Obituary of Frances Doreen Cowan

On Monday, June 18, 2018, Mrs. Doreen Cowan of Strathmore, Alberta, formerly of Chestermere and Calgary, passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 87 years. Doreen, granddaughter of the Bergquist family that settled in Carseland, AB, is survived by her loving husband, Harold; four children, Rob McJunkin of Cranbrook, BC, Nancy Long of Abbotsford, BC, Kathy Schuler of Calgary, AB, Marilyn (Rick) Lewchuk of Atlanta, GA; stepson, Kelly (Kathy) Cowan of Calgary, AB; eighteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Donna Myhre of Surrey, BC, and Barb (Bob) Bayne of Spruce Grove, AB; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Doreen was predeceased by her daughter, Shelley Sanford; son, Steve McJunkin; step daughter, Sandra Cowan; grandson, Kent Long; as well as brother-in-law, Alvin Myhre. The family would like to thank Michelle, Nicole and Amy from Integrated Home Care and the Strathmore Home Care ladies for their kindness in Doreen’s final days. A Celebration of Doreen’s Life will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Wheatland Funeral Chapel (202 Lakeside Boulevard), Strathmore.
