Obituary of Johannes Josephus Hendrikus Bauhuis

With grieving hearts, we announce the passing of John Bauhuis after a long and well lived life. 
Born in Aalten, Holland July 14, 1925 John grew up in a large farming family.
Surviving the depression years and the terrible deprivations of WWII, he then met and married Wilhelmina (Wilma), and together they immigrated to Canada in 1953. They built a new life and raised their family through commitment to each other, hard work, strong family values, and a deep and simple faith.  They raised 5 children; Marie (Lee) Hanson, Betty Bauhuis, Barry (Teena) Bauhuis, Dennis (Sandra) Bauhuis and Rob (Tracey) Bauhuis.  He is also survived by grandchildren Kari (Dean) Upshall and their children Jillian and Allison; Heather (Tom) Evans; Jamie (Braden) Hanson; John Bauhuis ; Lisa Bauhuis; Alyda Bauhuis; Reba Bauhuis; Danielle (Ben) Johnson;  Brendon Bauhuis; Patrick (Lisa) Bauhuis and Wyatt; Kate-Anne (Kyle) Akkerman
John came to Canada as a farmer, but as circumstances changed he began work in construction for Alberta Arches and Beams.  There are still many farm buildings around the countryside that John and his crew built. As a carpenter by trade, he loved the feel, smell and potential of wood. His handiwork survives in furniture and knick-knacks in his children's homes.
John's greatest passions were his family, especially his grandchildren, and his gardens. He took immense pride in his bountiful garden he loved to share with friends and family.
John's family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Sagewood Age Care and Dr H. Gooden, for their loving and compassionate care for the past 6 years
