Obituary of Shirley Joan Envoldsen

It is with great sadness to announce that Shirley Envoldsen passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 3, 2019 at Sagewood Care Centre.  She had recently celebrated her 89th birthday.  Shirley battled dementia for several years but was always known to have a smile on her face.  She especially loved music, children, and animals and was always taking care of others. Shirley was born on May 3, 1930 to Fred and Ruby Manson of Calgary.  She married Lyle Envoldsen on October 29, 1949 and they spent 69 wonderful years together. Shirley and Lyle lived in Calgary for 6 years and then moved to the family farm at Standard in 1957.  Shirley is predeceased by her parents; her brother, Bill; grandson, Alan; and sister-in-law, Lorraine. She is survived by her husband, Lyle; children, Karen (Robin) Hirsch, Debbie (Brett) Gates, Don (Sally), and Darryl.  Shirley also leaves behind her grandchildren, Dennis, Colin (Crystal), Lisa, Adam, Mark, and Jena; her brother-in-law, Bruno; sister-in-law, Pat; nephew, Scott; and cousin, Liz (Pete). Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 7, 2019 at The Lord of All Lutheran Church (112 Lakeside Blvd. in Strathmore) at 2:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made directly to the Alzheimer Society of Canada (20 Eglinton Ave. W. 16th Floor, Toronto, ON, M4R 1K8 or online here).
