Obituary of Gordon William Hanson
On Wednesday, August 7, 2019, Gordon Hanson passed away peacefully at the age of 80, after a long struggle with dementia. He had been residing in the Bassano Hospital since November 2018.
He leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Darlene; children Loris, Brad, Wendy (John), Mitzi and David; brother Richard, sisters Marg (Wilmar), Grace, Doris (Paul), many loving grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, Karl and Mabel, brothers Arnold, Raymond and Robert, sisters Alice and Violet.
Gordon was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all.
Gordon was born in Dafoe, Saskatchewan, loved the rigs and worked in the oil patch for over 50 years. He enjoyed Saskatchewan Roughriders, Calgary Flames, puttering out in the yard. His relaxation time was with remote in hand watching news and sports and a cat in his lap.
A special thank you to the staff at the Bassano Hospital and the Centennial Centre in Ponoka for their loving care. Thank you to Wheatland Funeral Home for the final arrangements.
No funeral services will be held. The immediate family will be taking Dad home to Saskatchewan at a later date.
