Obituary of Ruby Irma Rieper

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, Great grandmother and best friend. Erma was born in Carstairs, Alberta on March 3, 1947.  She lived in Vauxhall before returning to her family home in Gleichen, Alberta. Erma was predeceased by her mother Annie Evelyn (nee Hall) Cochrane in 1948 and father William Roland Cochrane in 1984. She was raised by her aunt, Marion Ida Hunter, who passed in 1985 and uncle, Rupert “Rip” King Hunter, in 1974, and their children Donald and Dale Hunter. Erma left behind her companion Marlin Wallace; daughter Nancy Lehtimiemi, husband and two grandchildren; daughter Kerry Dougherty and grandsons, son Kevin Weins and wife; and daughter Karissa Wiems and granddaughter Marilyn.

Erma spent most of her life looking after her family but found time to be a foster parent for many years at her home in Gleichen. Erma was very proud of her children she raised and fostered, too many to name. Some came and went to other family members and other stayed for years to be love and nurtured by Erma and family.

Erma found time in her busy life to sit on the board of Director for the Gleichen & District Community Association as secretary, music was a big part of her life and she sang in the Gleichen Community Choir. 

A celebration of Life will be held in the Gleichen Community Hall at Gleichen, Alberta on Saturday September 14, 2019 at 2:00 p.m.
