Obituary of John Peter McLEAN

McLEAN, John “Peter” July 12, 1938 – January 5, 2017 It is with deep sadness the family of Peter McLean announce his passing at the Strathmore Hospital with his loved ones by his side. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends as he was a kindhearted, generous person. Peter impacted so many lives and was an inspiration to us all. Peter is survived by his wife of 56 years, Peggy (nee Gray); son Greg (Judy); and daughter Michelle Warrack (Sonny) and their 4 children, Jake, Meg, Jemma and Ray. Peter loved his grandchildren. They were very special to him and he was a big part of their life. He is also survived by his sister Marilyn Garden (Roy); sister-in-law Charlotte McLean; brother-in-laws Harrison Gray (Marie) and Earl Gray (Dianne); along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Peter was pre-deceased by his parents Pete and Lucille; brother Bruce McLean; and in-laws Elmer and Phyllis Gray. Peter grew up on the family farm near Nightingale. He worked in the plumbing and heating business and became a partner with SE Johnson Mechanical Contractors until his retirement in 1998. He was proud to be a founding member of the Strathmore Kinsmen Club and was instrumental in building Kinsmen Park. He loved to golf and curl. Peter was an avid outdoorsman enjoying camping, boating, fishing, hunting & gardening with his family and friends. Peters family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. C. Owen – Calgary TBCC, Dr R. Manocha – Strathmore, Nicole Porquet-Seitz of Strathmore Home Care and the Strathmore Hospital for the exceptional, kind and compassionate care that Peter received during his illness. In lieu of flowers please make donations directly to the Wheatland & Area Hospice Society (Box 2154, Strathmore, AB, T1P 1K2).
